Hello everyone, today i will be showing you some pictures and the details about vermicompost
Vermicompost is a process where people uses earthworms and other common ones. These worms will make food waste, bedding materials and vermicast. After that, the worms will produce worm manure or worm humus.the worm manure will breakdown of organic matter by an earthworm. These worms are placed in a vermicompost bin where the process is placed. These worms must stay in the right temperature,10 degrees celsius. The temperature 30 degree celcius can be really harmful. So,vermicompost can be really eco-friendly.

Vermicompost information^.^
- Vermicompost is the process of composting using various worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and earthworms to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials, and vermicast.
- Vermicast, also called worm castings, worm humus or worm manure, is the end-product of the breakdown of organic matter by an earthworm.
-
These castings have been shown to contain decrease levels of contaminants and a higher saturation of nutrients than do organic materials before vermicomposting.
- Worms are sensitive to variations in climate extreme temperatures and direct sunlight are not healthy for the worms.
- Worms will eat almost anything you put in a typical compost pile (e.g., food scraps, paper, plants, plastic).

Vermicomposting
Vermicomposting
Here in Greenwood Primary School, we have our own vermicompost bin so that we can fertilise our school plants using the worm's waste. If you do not know what vermicomposting is all about, then let us explain to you!
Vermicomposting is where by worms help us to fertilise our plants using their waste. But for them to do so we must feed them acordingly.
You can feed the worms this things;Vegtables, dead leaves and paper. Some of the things that you cannot feed the worms is; Sour fruits, All meat and Diary products, Spices and most importantly, Plastic.........These are only some of the things you cannot feed them but if you want more information about how to make your own Vermicompost bin, there is another slide on this blog!So check it out!
